About this product

Technical Description

The HOMECOMING x Nike Air Max Plus "Pan African" arrives in a Black / University Red / Court Green colorway built on the same reworked construction as its "African Sunrise" counterpart. The elevated TPU cage floats above a custom tight-knit reptilian mesh upper — inspired by the African bath sponges found on Lagos market stalls — while a darker dipped coating at the toe box references West Africa's indigo-dyeing tradition. The Black base is punctuated by University Red and Court Green accents, the three colours that form the Pan-African palette and appear across the branding, lace hardware, and charm system. As with the full collection, each pair includes three sets of multi-colour rope laces and six co-branded charms: a Homecoming x Nike coin, an Africa-shaped medallion, and cowrie shells referencing the historic West African currency.

Storytelling

Where the "African Sunrise" expresses warmth and light, the "Pan African" carries the political and cultural weight. Black, red, and green are the colours most widely associated with Pan-Africanism — a movement rooted in the unity, pride, and shared identity of African people and the global diaspora. For Grace Ladoja and Homecoming, these are not decorative choices. The festival's core mission is to reconnect the African diaspora with the continent's creative energy, and this colorway is the most direct expression of that purpose across the two-pair pack.

A Historic Drop — Born at the Homecoming Festival, Lagos

The HOMECOMING x Nike Air Max Plus "Pan African" first released April 4, 2026 at the Homecoming Concept Space in Lagos, during the festival that runs each Easter weekend. A wider drop via Homecoming's online store followed on April 21, with a SNKRS release for select regions on April 23. Alongside the "African Sunrise," it marks the first Nike collaboration designed by an African woman — a milestone that gives both pairs a significance well beyond the sneaker itself.
